RCOD Framework for Content Marketing

Here’s a quick breakdown of all these 4 terms that you see in the infographic here:

1. Research

Research is important in content marketing because it can help you to understand your audience better and provide them with the information they need. When you understand your audience and their needs, it will be easier for you to create content that is relevant to them.

Because without research, you’re just guessing at what your audience wants, and that can be unfruitful.

I recommend spending tons of time researching the following things:

  • What information your potential customers are looking for
  • What and how your competitors are doing business
  • Where your target audience hangs out
  • How your content will be providing answers to their burning questions
  • What format of content they would prefer to consume
  • What keywords they are searching for, etc.

My suggestion is that there is no fixed way of doing research. Just keep looking until you find a correlation.

2. Create

After knowing your potential customers a bit better, it’s time to create content.

Content creation is what makes the difference between a company that’s just trying to sell you something, and one that’s actually trying to provide value. It is what makes your business stand out from its competitors.

Your goal should be to create content that answers all the burning questions that your potential customers might have.

3. Optimize

Optimizing your content can be the difference between a mediocre experience and an exceptional one.

Optimization is the process of making sure that your content is easy to find, easy to read, and easy to understand. It’s about making sure that people are finding what they’re looking for when they come to your site.

Some recommended things to do are:

  • Optimize your content for a better user experience
  • Improve CTAs for better conversions
  • Makes pages load fast
  • Present content in a way that looks appealing

4. Distribute

With the right distribution, you can reach a wider audience and increase the number of people who see your content. The more people who see your content, the more likely they are to buy what you’re selling.

Just hitting publishing is not enough, repurpose your content to different formats and redistribute them to multiple platforms where your target audience hangs out.

I recommend following the RRRR framework for content distribution to make sure your content gets the attention that it deserves.

That way, you’re not just wasting your time or money—you’re actually making an impact on your audience!
